The Dean of Manchester is considering leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2019 as part of a journey of faith. As a result of feedback we have received, we are looking to host two information sessions later this year to get an indication of the level of interest, the sites that pilgrims would like to visit and the duration of the pilgrimage.
The Dean said:
"It is my intention for this to be a deeply spiritual journey of faith. Although the precise sites to be visited will come out of the feedback we receive, I am looking at this as being a spiritual experience of prayer, reflection and worship. I would hope that as part of this journey we would be able to celebrate the Eucharist in a boat in the middle of the Sea of Galilee and to go to the site where Jesus was baptised by St John the Baptist. This journey of faith will for many be a once in a lifetime opportunity and will be a very memorable occasion.
One other consideration is the actual journey to the Holy Land. We would be looking at traveling on scheduled flights from Manchester or by bus to Heathrow. We will be staying in good quality hotels and will be accompanied by a highly knowledgeable and experienced guide. We may also need to build in some time off from visiting sites so you will have opportunities to unwind, relax and enjoy this experience.
The information sessions are from 12.30pm to 2.30pmon Friday 8 June and from 12.30pm to 2.30pm on Sunday 10 June 2018. Please contact Anthony O'Connor on 0161 833 2220 ext. 233 if you would like to attend one of these sessions.
