We have the deepest sympathy for all who have suffered abuse. We are shocked and saddened by the nature of the allegations relating to events in the early 1980s.
Manchester Cathedral will work with the Archbishop of York’s inquiry investigating the issues surrounding reports of Dean Waddington's actions. We want to reassure parents and congregation members that for a number of years Manchester Cathedral has had in place a robust child protection policy with DBS/CRB checks made on all clergy and those who work specifically with children. We encourage all victims of abuse to report it to the police.
