St John Passion is a Passion setting or oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach. Vivid in its portrayal of the lead up to and crucifixion of Christ, this amazing work was written during Bach's first year as director of church music in Leipzig and was first performed on April 7, 1724, at Good Friday Vespers at the St. Nicholas Church.
St John Passion will be performed by Manchester Cathedral Choir; Northern Chamber Orchestra Ensemble; William Balkwill (evangelist); directed by Christopher Stokes.
